Tithing and Donations

To help with our ongoing local apostolic mission and operations, Cursillo suggests a standard tithing guideline of 5% to your parish, 1% to your diocese, 1% to the Cursillo Movment, and 3% to other charities, missions, etc of your choice.  However, each should give according to their means and blessings received.  All tithing and donations to the Cursillo are tax deductible.

Tax tip - for those that choose to pay for their candidate's weekend donation.  Tithe to Cursillo Movement in general instead, so that its all tax deductible.

Tithing/donation checks should be mailed to:

Fr. Fidelis Memorial Cursillo

The Cursillo originated in Spain in the 1940's and came to the United States in 1957. While in San Angelo, Texas, Fr. Fidelis was primarily responsible for translating the Cursillo into English, which previously had only been given in Spanish. This is why we call him the Father of the English Cursillo.  In 1962, Bishop Charles Helmsing invited Fr. Fidelis to bring the Cursillo Movement to the Kansas City-St. Joseph MO Diocese and surrounding area. From here, Fr. Fidelis and lay teams helped establish many other Cursillo centers throughout the United States. Today the Cursillo Movement has spread worldwide in several different languages.

Fr. Fidelis joined the 5th Day Community on September 21, 1973.  Fr. Fidelis is buried at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 2201 Cleveland, Kansas City, MO — Row 1, Section G-300, Space 15.
